Health care fees
We charge fees for our primary and specialised health care services as follows:
€28.20 per appointment
The fee is charged for a maximum of three appointments per calendar year.
Appointments with a nurse, public health nurse, and midwife are free of charge. Physician’s appointments and urgent care appointments are free of charge for those under 18 years of age.
The digital clinic has the same client fees as normal appointments: Fees for Digital Services and Remote Appointment
Uncancelled appointment: €56.70
The fee for an unused or uncancelled appointment is collected from persons over 18 years of age.
If you get a referral from primary health care for examinations at the level of specialised health care, you will pay an outpatient clinic fee of €66.70 for the examination services.
Each appointment is subject to an appointment fee as well as fees for treatment procedures. You can get detailed pricing information from the dental clinic.
Appointment fees:
Dentist: €17.90 per appointment
Dental specialist: €26.30 per appointment
Outpatient clinic fee for specialised oral and maxillofacial care: €66,70
Fees for treatment procedures vary depending on complexity, ranging from €11.50 to €250.90.
Uncancelled appointment: €56.70
The fee for an unused or uncancelled appointment is collected from persons over 18 years of age.
Oral health care services are subject to a fee for everyone aged 18 and over. Most dental care fees contribute towards the payment ceiling.
Outpatient clinic
Appointments in specialised medical care are subject to a fee, with the exception of psychiatric outpatient clinics.

- Emergency outpatient clinics at Tays Acuta and Valkeakoski (at all times): €66.70 per appointment
- Series treatment fee: €18.60 per appointment
Outpatient clinic fees contribute towards the payment ceiling. The service is free of charge for those under 18 years of age.
Day surgery
Day surgery procedure fee is €218.70 per procedure.
A telephone consultation is a call between a healthcare professional and a patient during which the patient's needs for specialised medical care are met. The patient receives treatment instructions or a report on the examinations conducted, along with instructions for further treatment. A telephone consultation can replace an appointment and contributes towards the payment ceiling.
Please note! Calls that are free of charge include, for example, calls for booking an appointment, calls with midwives in gynaecology and maternity emergency services, and calls made to the emergency helpline 116117.
Basic level laboratory and imaging examinations carried out at a health and social services centre are free of charge.
An outpatient clinic fee of €66.70 is charged if you receive a referral from primary health care for examinations in specialised medical care, or if the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa arranges equivalent examinations as a purchased service (payment commitment).
Individual therapy: €18.60 per appointment
- e.g. physiotherapy, nutritional therapy, podiatry, speech therapy, occupational therapy
Group therapy: €6 per appointment
Series treatment or rehabilitation: €18.60 per appointment
- In primary health care, a fee may be charged for e.g. physiotherapy, medical rehabilitation, continuous dialysis.
- In specialised medical care, a fee may be charged for e.g. medical rehabilitation, radiotherapy and cytostatic treatment.
- Charged no more than 45 times per calendar year.
Fees contribute towards the payment ceiling. Services are free of charge for those under 18 years of age.
Urgent care in primary health care
- on weekdays 8.00 - 20.00 €28.20 per appointment
- at other times (i.e. weekdays 20.00 - 8.00, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays): €38.70 per appointment
- Appointments with a nurse, public health nurse, and midwife are free of charge. Physician’s appointments and urgent care appointments are free of charge for those under 18 years of age.
Emergency services
Emergency outpatient clinics at Tays Acuta and Valkeakoski (at all times): €66.70 per appointment
Short-term care usually refers to a period of treatment lasting no more than three months, for example in a primary health care ward, institution, or hospital.
- Fee for care in wards: €66.90 per day of care
- Fee in psychiatric units: €30.70 per day of care
- Fee for substance abuse detoxification: €30.70 per day of care
- After exceeding the maximum payment ceiling: €25.10 per day of care (no client fee is charged in psychiatric units after the payment ceiling has been reached)
- For those under 18 years of age, the fee is charged for a maximum of seven days of care per calendar year.
Care is defined as long-term if it is expected to last at least three months. In such a case, the fee is determined based on your income.
School health care services are free of charge.
Fees for student health care:
- Physician’s appointments are subject to a fee for those aged 18 and over, except for mental health appointments. The fee is €28.30 per appointment. The fee is charged for a maximum of three appointments per calendar year.
- Services of a public health nurse are free of charge.
- Preventive health care appointments, such as those related to contraception, are free of charge.
- A fee of €56.70 is charged from persons aged 18 and over for a missed and uncancelled physician’s or public health nurse’s appointment.
- Certificates issued in primary health care: €56.70/certificate
- Driving licence certificate: €68.10/certificate
- Certificates issued in specialised medical care: maximum €56.70/certificate
- In addition, an outpatient clinic fee or an appointment fee will be charged.
For example, the following services are free of charge for everyone:
- appointments with a nurse or public health nurse in primary health care
- appointments with a midwife
- vaccination (under the national vaccination programme or prescribed by a physician as part of the treatment of an illness)
- maternity clinic and maternity outpatient clinic services provided to pregnant persons who use substances
- examination or treatment of victims of sexual violence related to the treatment of somatic or psychological problems caused by sexual violence
- appointments at psychiatric outpatient clinics
For those under 18 years of age, the following services are also free of charge, e.g. physician services in primary health care, urgent care and emergency services, as well as dental examinations and treatment.
