The Wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa is responsible for the social services, health care, fire and rescue services of more than 520,000 residents in Pirkanmaa. The county is a major employer. We employ more than 19,000 professionals in the social services, health care, fire and rescue fields.
We want to ensure services are equally and easily available throughout the county. We want our customers to feel that our services are people-friendly, smooth, modern, and efficient.
How can physicians find employment in the Wellbeing Services County?
1. Physicians licensed in Finland, physicians trained within the EU/EEA, and medical students
Once you have obtained LK4 rights, you can work, for example, in adult psychiatry or on inpatient wards in local hospitals. With LK5 rights, you can work in primary care services at health centres or in acute care settings.
2. Persons with a physician's or dentist's degree outside the EU/EEA
If you have completed a physician's or dentist's degree outside the EU/EEA, you are required to complete a medical internship in accordance with Valvira’s licensing process, demonstrate sufficient language proficiency, and pass the required examinations in order to be licensed to practice as a physician in Finland.
Dentists are also required to complete practical internship in accordance with Valvira’s (National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health) licensing process, demonstrate sufficient language proficiency, pass qualification examinations, and work under a restricted license for a minimum of one year.
