Vaccinations
Vaccinations under the national vaccination programme
Vaccinations, such as tetanus and polio vaccinations, are administered at nurses' appointments in accordance with the national vaccination programme.
Children under school age are vaccinated at child health clinics. School-age children and students are vaccinated through school and student health care.
Vaccinations for pregnant women are administered at maternity clinics, with the exception of COVID-19 vaccinations given at a health and social services centre.
Adults must themselves ensure that their vaccinations are up to date and book an appointment for vaccination with a nurse at a health and social services centre.

Vaccinations for travellers
When planning a trip abroad, find out your vaccination needs well in advance. The development of adequate vaccine protection may take weeks, or you may need several vaccinations to achieve the vaccine protection.
Contact your occupational health care service or your own health and social services centre to get the necessary vaccine prescriptions.
Where and how to get vaccinated?
-
Book a vaccination appointment for a child or adolescent at a child health clinic or school or student health care.
-
Appointments for adults are booked at a maternity clinic or a health and social services centre either by phone or through digital services (OmaPirha). Adults can also receive many vaccinations through their own occupational health care service.
Does the service cost money?
Vaccinations under the national vaccination programme are voluntary and free of charge. Vaccines outside the national vaccination programme are subject to a fee. Vaccination counselling and vaccination services, however, are free of charge.
