Translate and listen to texts on the Pirha.fi website

    The Pirha.fi website features a text-to-speech programme, which activates when you click on the Listen button on the page.

    With ReadSpeaker, you can listen to the website’s text being read aloud. This can be helpful, for example, if you have reading or comprehension difficulties.

    The ReadSpeaker tool also includes Google Translate, which can translate the page’s text into different languages.

    How to translate the text?

    When you want a translation of the page content, first select (highlight) the text you wish to translate, then click on the Translate (Käännös) option in the icons that appear.

    ReadSpeaker will open a window where you can choose the language. The translation will be shown in the pop-up window. You can also listen to the translated text.

    Text can be translated into the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, or Vietnamese.

    The translation is made with Google translate. The translation is indicative only, as it is generated automatically. No guarantee is given as to its reliability or accuracy.

    How to listen to the text?

    The Listen button is located in the top right-hand corner of the page. Click on it to activate ReadSpeaker, which will then read the page content aloud.

    You can also select only part of the text on the page to listen to. Select (highlight) the text you want to hear and click on the Listen button in the pop-up window.

    When using Readspeaker, a control panel will appear on the page, from which you can, for example, pause the reading or use the skip buttons to move backwards or forwards through the text.
