Home support services for older people and persons with disabilities

The service includes everyday support and assistance in daily situations where the customer needs practical help, guidance, accompaniment or companionship. The service may include, for example, help with errands such as visiting the grocery store, pharmacy, post office or handling other everyday matters, accompaniment to activities outside the home, outdoor activities, as well as spending time together and social interaction. The purpose of the service is to support the customer’s ability to live at home, independent functioning, participation and well-being.

The customer receives help with managing everyday life and support in situations that they are unable to handle alone or in which they need another person to assist them. The service can make it easier to move outside the home, increase the feeling of safety, reduce loneliness and enable more active participation in everyday life and personal activities. The service is provided according to the customer’s individual needs, wishes and functional ability.

The service does not include nursing care, medication management or other healthcare procedures.
