Masanobu Komatsu luennoi kasvaimen angiogeneesistä syöpäseminaarissa to 8.6. klo 15

Tervetuloa kevään viimeiseen syöpäseminaariin torstaina 8.6. kello 15–16. Liity mukaan tällä Zoom-linkillä.

Puhuja: prof. Masanobu Komatsu, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, USA.

Esityksen otsikko: Role of R-Ras in vascular stability: A good neighbor next door
Esitys käsittelee kasvaimen angiogeneesiä.

Host: prof. Tero Järvinen

Esityksen tiivistelmä:

Communications between adjacent endothelial cells and between endothelial cells and pericytes are important for the homeostasis of blood vessels. A Ras homolog GTPase, R-Ras plays crucial roles in the molecular crosstalk between these cells. For instance, quiescent endothelial cells guide the quiescence of neighboring endothelial cells via R-Ras signaling mediated by Akt3 and Jagged1 that results in the upregulation of Notch-target genes such as UNC5B and RRAS itself in the neighboring cells. On the other hand, pericyte contraction controlled by R-Ras leads to the quiescence of neighboring endothelial cells by mechanical activation of latent TGF beta. R-Ras also promotes endothelial lumen formation via Akt-mediated microtubule stabilization. This seminar will present some of the key findings from recent studies and discuss a potential idea for harnessing these molecular pathways for treating vascular disorders.
